  • AGRIOM KENYA: BREEDING AND SELECTION UNDER LOCAL CONDITIONS

De Kwakel, July 2024 – Since this year Agriom has its own selection garden in Limuru, Kenya. A lot of effort has gone into the construction of the garden. Employees built a mesh greenhouse where delphinium, dahlia and alstroemeria are grown. A closed greenhouse has been set up for hydrangea and chrysanthemum. And seedlings and selections of hypericum are grown at the outdoor location.
,,We intentionally carry out the breeding and selection of hypericum under local Kenyan conditions”, explains Ilse, breeder of Agriom. ,,The cuttings that we produce in limited quantities are sold to growers cultivating the crop around the equator, that includes South America.”
